  1. In a pressure cooker add soaked chana,chana dal,salt,water,whole spices and black tea, tied in a thin clean cloth as shown in picture.(only 1 tsp cumin seeds is to be added now and rest will be used later. Pressure cook for 5 whistles.
  2. Take out the boiled chana (along with water if left) in a bowl and discard the whole spices and tea mix.In a mixer grinder make onion paste (add 2 green chillies)and tomato paste separately.
  3. Pour oil in the kadahi,once heated add cumin seeds and ginger garlic paste.saute it then add onion -greenchilli paste and roast till brown.Add powdered spices and salt,mix it well.
  4. After 2 minutes add tomato puree,2 slit green chillies and cook till oil separates.
  5. Add boiled chana and dal and saute till the thick consistency. Switch off the flame, cover with a lid and leave for 5 minutes. Serve hot with puri or paratha.
